Born in New York City and raised in Tampa Florida, Vince developed a true nurturing passion to provide for and protect his family, community, and country. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 7 yrs until he was honorably discharged. In 1995, following his passion for Law enforcement, he joined the Atlanta Police Department where he excelled through the ranks, securing his position as a Homicide & Cold Case Detective and Senior Hostage Negotiator Team Leader.

With over 22 years of law enforcement experience and over 17 years as an investigator and Hostage Negotiator, Det. Velazquez has participated in over 1000 death investigations including several high profile and complex cases as well as over 300 negotiations.

After such a distinguished career, Detective Velazquez retired from the Atlanta Police Department in 2017 and started a successful security consulting firm, “Velazquez Consultants”.

Detective Velazquez has been featured on A&E Television’s Cold Case Files and The First 48, Dateline NBC, America’s Most Wanted, CNN’s Mike Galanos Show, CNN International, Georgia’s Most Wanted, MSNBC, CNN’s Nancy Grace Show, TV One Network show “Fatal Attraction” and Oxygen Networks show “Snapped”. He is currently the co-star of his own show, ATL Homicide on the TV One Network about he and his partners homicide cases over the years.

Frequently lecturing in Atlanta colleges to Criminal Justice students, as well as speaking regularly at local elementary and high schools, Vincent Velazquez is a respected expert in his field, true public servant, mentor, and role model in his community.
