Human Rights Lawyer
Sue Brown is a Human Rights Lawyer in British Columbia, Canada. She is currently the Director of Advocacy and Staff Lawyer at Vancouver-based NGO Justice for Girls. Sue has a Master’s Degree in Criminology and over 15 years of experience in human rights investigation, research and advocacy, working on complex issues and cases that impact the rights and equality of marginalized people. Her work has taken her inside Canada’s maximum-security prisons, to the dark alleys of Vancouver’s downtown Eastside and the remote communities that line BC’s notorious highway of tears. Sue specializes in supporting the families of missing, trafficked and murdered women and girls, helping them to navigate the justice system, advocating for them when the traditional justice system has failed. She advocates for stronger laws and thorough investigations. In her spare time, Sue volunteers with BC’s Innocence Project and Please Bring Me Home Canada.
