Melissa "Mo" Silva

Advocate
Melissa 'Mo' Silva: In 1987 Melissa was just 4 when her mother, Deanna Butterfield, was murdered. Flash forward a decade and Mo began her advocacy work before she even knew what advocacy truly was. She was advocating for her mother and for the District Attorney's office who had jurisdiction over her mothers case to open up a cold case unit and to solve her mothers murder.

Paul Holes eventually moved to the DA's Office from the Sheriff's Office and unknown to Mo he had been involved with her mother's case since 1996. In 2015 Deanna Butterfield's murder was solved after almost 30 years, bringing Paul and Mo together with a shared vision for the need to solve cold cases and victim's advocacy.

Mo got her degree in Psychology and Justice studies, worked in the courts, and is now advocating helping others with cold cases all while trying to plant the seed of change to shift to a proactive society.
