John Ramsey was raised in Lincoln Nebraska, attended Michigan State University earning a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters degree in Business Administration. He served as a U.S. Naval officer during the Viet Nam era for a period of 8 years and left the service with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Ramsey worked in the computer technology area in sales, marketing and management roles for the majority of his career and at the time of his daughter JonBene't's death was a vice president of Lockheed Corporation and President of Access Graphics, a Lockheed subsidiary. Ramsey has three living children and five grandchildren. In addition to the loss of JonBene't, Ramsey's daughter Elizabeth was killed in an automobile accident shortly after her graduation from Miami University at the age of 21. Ramsey is currently working as the President of an Air Charter and Air Tour company in the western United States and has been remarried to his wife Jan for eleven years following the death of Patsy due to cancer, his wife of 24 years.
