Senior Forensic Imaging Specialist
With a career spanning since 1999, Joe Mullins is a forensic artist, playing a pivotal role in identifying and helping law enforcement with long-term missing children cases and approximating unknown skeletal remains with his reconstructions of faces and soft tissue. Currently serving as a forensic imaging specialist at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Joe also extends his expertise globally by leading workshops and demonstrations, inspiring and instructing the next generation of forensic artists.

As an Adjunct Professor at George Mason University, Joe works closely with graduate students in the Forensic Science Department. He also serves as an instructor at the New York Academy of Art where he teaches a unique forensic sculpture course using actual cases of unidentified victims. Before becoming a forensic imaging specialist, Joe studied at the Savannah College of Art & Design and James Madison University where his focus was Graphic Design and Fine Art. He’s also attended the FBI Academy, University of Oklahoma, and the University of Dundee for his forensic skills training. Joe is a certified Forensic Artist by the International Association for Identification.
