David Quinn Jr.
Detective
I was born in Wilmington, Delaware and my family relocated to m e t r o Atlanta i n the late 70's during the beginning of my high school years.
In 1985, just two years after high school I began my career with the Atlanta Police Department and entered the Atlanta Police Academy at the age of 20.
Upon completion of my training in the summer of 1986, I was issued a badge and 3.8 caliber revolver and assigned to the infamous Zone 3precinct, affectionately known as the War Zone where I served for my first decade
By 1996, I was sent to work in the Zone 1 precinct in the "Bankhead" neighborhood whereupon I was assigned to a plain clothes crime abatement unit where I continued service until the year 2000, when I was appointed detective and assigned to the Homicide Unit.
During my 15 years working as a homicide detective I investigated hundreds of murders in the city of Atlanta which included multiple high-profile and gang-related murders that I was successful in bringing to resolution.
Afte r30 consecutive years of service to the great citizens of Atlanta, I retired in 2015. During that same year I was asked to work as an in-house consultant with the Homicide Unit and continued working under contract for an additional 3 years where I mentored new homicide detectives in real time.
After retirement I was approached by the TVOne Network to co-host a true-crime series "ATL Homicide with my longtime partner Detective Velazquez, based on our experiences in the Atlanta Police Homicide Unit. The show is currently in season 4.
I have been married to my wife Miranda for 33 years who is a retired Atlanta Police Sergeant, and we have six children and five grandchildren.
